Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, commonly known as ADHD is a neurological condition which affects functions within the brain that control development and can affect a person’s behaviour. adhd can be diagnosed and treated as a child or as an adult. There are 3 types of adhd and these types depend on the individuals symptoms and behaviours.
Innattentive presentation of adhd – where a person finds it difficult to follow structure in tasks, create a structure and routine, follow conversations, pay attention to details. This type of adhd often makes a person forgetful – forgetting small details of daily life.
Hyperactive-impulsive presentation of adhd – The person fidgets and talks a lot. It is hard to sit still for long (e.g., for a meal or while doing homework). Smaller children may run, jump or climb constantly. The individual feels restless and has trouble with impulsivity. Someone who is impulsive may interrupt others a lot, grab things from people, or speak at inappropriate times. It is hard for the person to wait their turn or listen to directions. A person with impulsiveness may have more accidents and injuries than others
Combines presentation of adhd – where both types and symptoms of both are equally present in one person.
